Ozzy’s Learning Brain
Naomi Moore
This heartwarming story helps children who struggle with lessons and may feel discouraged or inadequate.
Ozzy dreads going to school because, although no one knows, he finds the lessons incredibly challenging. It feels as though his brain just isn’t working right—letters seem to dance around, numbers get jumbled, he can’t remember instructions, and his handwriting feels out of control. Ozzy tries to hide how hard school is for him because everyone else seems to be learning easily. In an attempt to avoid the work, he starts acting out, which leads to the teacher sending him out of the room. Ozzy feels like it’s all his fault and wonders why his brain doesn’t work like everyone else’s. However, Mr. Musinga, a new teacher, recognizes that Ozzy’s brain learns in a different way. With patience and understanding, Mr. Musinga learns how to teach Ozzy in a way that suits his unique learning style.
